What is the Kenya eTA for Surinamer citizens: Latest update

The Kenyan government declared that beginning January 1, 2024, tourists entering Kenya would not need a visa and will instead apply for an Electronic Travel Authorization. The ETA system has replaced the eVisa system in Kenya and is now in use.

To carry out this new policy, Kenya has created an online digital platform to guarantee that all visitors to the country are recognized and receive the necessary security clearance before visiting. Travelers benefit greatly from not having to apply for a visa, and the ETA assures that Kenya maintains basic safety and security while welcoming tourists.

Since January 2024, Kenya has implemented a visa waiver for all travelers, regardless of their nationality. This policy allows visitors to enter Kenya without having to obtain an electronic visa (e-Visa) for tourist or business stays of up to 90 days.

Kenya's implementation of the ETA is part of a global trend, which has been adopted by several other countries including the United States, South Korea, New Zealand, Israel, and the United Kingdom, with the goal of improving security and traveler flows while maintaining the ease of access provided by the visa exemption.

If you're a Surinamer planning a trip to Kenya, you must secure a Kenya ETA. This new electronic authorization is essential for all tourists heading to Kenya, including those from Suriname, and it has taken over from the previous Kenya eVisa system.

Kenya electronic visa also known as the Kenya ETA is a semi-automated system that verifies visitors' eligibility for travel to Kenya. An eTA grants authorization to travel and is issued by the Government of the Republic of Kenya. An eTA does not decide whether a visitor is allowed to enter Kenya. When passengers arrive, immigration authorities will assess their admissibility.

Your eTA is valid for 90 days from the date of issuance, and you must travel during that time. It is only necessary for admission into Kenya and may only be used once. There is no need to reapply for an eTA if it expires while you are in Kenya.
