Who needs a visa to enter Kenya?
The Kenyan government stated that all foreign nationals would be able to visit Kenya without a visa beginning January 1, 2024. The visa-free policy applies to people entering Kenya for vacation or commercial purposes, and stays are limited to 90 days.
As part of the visa-free policy, the government unveiled a new electronic travel authorization (eTA) system to replace the current eVisa system for short-term travel.
Travelers who are on the exempt visa country lists, still need to apply for an ETA. However, due to the development of technology, travelers no longer need to arrange meetings with the Embassy to interview for a paper visa. They now can apply for an e-visa which is established to minimize the visa paperwork and shorten the processing time.
If you are qualified for this type of visa, you can start your Kenya ETA application right away. The application will require some crucial information such as your full name, date of birth, passport numbers, last but not least is your intended travel dates. With basic documents required, all you need to do is wait within 3 business days to obtain the result. Besides, travelers can check status to know where your e-visa is going by completing the form. After 30 minutes, you can obtain the checking status result through your email.
